Key Highlights

  • The Olympiad Progression: A comprehensive track that begins with accessible school-level contests like MOEMS and progresses toward the IMO through AMC 8, AMC 10, AIME, USAJMO, and USAMO. The USAJMO and USAMO are key stages in the selection process for the United States team for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).
  • College Admissions Edge: Strong Olympiad scores can significantly strengthen college applications by providing objective evidence of exceptional mathematical ability, especially for competitive STEM programs at top universities. A high score serves as a powerful differentiator, highlighting advanced analytical and problem-solving skills that set applicants apart in addition to GPA and standard SAT/ACT scores.
  • Focus on Ingenuity: Emphasizes deep conceptual understanding over rote memorization, highlighting a student’s ability to synthesize ideas, apply creative logic, and demonstrate advanced quantitative reasoning. It enhances the ability to understand complex mathematical concepts, solve challenging problems, develop clear and logical solutions, think laterally, and construct rigorous proofs.
  • Accessible Excellence: Offers distinct divisions for younger students to build confidence, while providing the ultimate intellectual challenge for advanced high schoolers.

Math Olympiad Course Content

Our tutoring program ensures thorough coverage across all core areas:

  • MOEMS (Division E & M): Number Theory, Algebraic Thinking, Geometry, Arithmetic Operations, Data Analysis & Probability, and Measurement.
  • USAJMO: Algebra, Geometry, Number Theory, Probability, Trigonometry, and Combinatorics, taught at an advanced level.
  • USAMO: Advanced Algebra, Geometry, Number Theory, Probability, Trigonometry, and Combinatorics, taught at a higher level of depth and difficulty.

Math Olympiad Exam Overview

The Math Olympiad journey is a secure, highly competitive progression of exams. The pathway emphasizes deep logical precision over standard high school math memorization.

  • MOEMS: 5 monthly school-level contests. Each test consists of 5 non-routine problems with a time limit of 30 minutes. Tournaments are one-day local or regional events for grades 4–6 and 6–8, featuring face-to-face team competitions with Individual and Team rounds, and tiebreakers if needed.
  • USAJMO: Six proof-based essay-type problems over two consecutive days (4.5 hours/day), 3 problems each day.
  • USAMO: Six high-difficulty proof-based essay-type problems over two days (9 hours total).

How to Prepare for the Math Olympiads

  • Master core concepts and skills: Build a strong foundation across all areas of mathematics.
  • Strengthen Math concepts and skills: Focus on improving your ability to apply specific heuristics (like working backwards, drawing figures), recognize test-maker traps, and quickly evaluate multiple approaches to find the most elegant solution.
  • Targeted Practice for all-around excellence: Identify gaps in concepts and skills, focus on closing each one through structured practice, and progress towards well-rounded mastery.
  • Practice Under Real Exam Conditions: Train with level-appropriate questions and practice pacing yourself to ensure you have time to thoroughly double-check complex logical deductions.
  • Review Consistently and Apply Improvement Strategies: Regular review helps identify weak areas, such as recurring logic blind spots. Spend time deeply dissecting past problems to understand why a solution works.
  • Build Stamina with Full-Length Mock Tests: Take full-length practice tests to develop focus endurance, improve your problem-solving pacing, and build confidence for the intense, multi-hour formats of the higher-level exams.

It provides a structured approach aligned with competition objectives, ensuring you can tackle complex reasoning questions and construct proofs that go far beyond the standard school curriculum.

This approach allows you to work through complex problems at your own pace with expert guidance. You receive personalized advice and strategies tailored to your specific problem-solving speed, rather than generalized classroom instruction.

MOEMS is a foundational, confidence-building competition for elementary and middle schoolers. USAJMO and USAMO are highly exclusive, grueling, proof-based invitational competitions for the top high school math students in the country, serving as a pathway to IMO selection.

No. Calculators are strictly prohibited across all levels of the Math Olympiads (MOEMS, AMC, AIME, USAJMO, USAMO). The exams test logical ingenuity and problem-solving, not computational heavy lifting.

MOEMS (Grades 4 to 8): Number Theory, Algebraic Thinking, Geometry, Arithmetic, Measurement, and Data Analysis & Probability.

  • USAJMO: Algebra, Geometry, Number Theory, Combinatorics, Probability, and Trigonometry at an advanced level.
  • USAMO: Advanced Algebra, Geometry, Number Theory, Combinatorics, Probability, and Trigonometry at greater depth and difficulty.

It is an invitation-only process. Students must take the AMC 10 or AMC 12 and the AIME. Those with the highest combined index scores advance to the next round. USAJMO eligibility is based on the combined index score of the AMC 10 and AIME. USAMO eligibility is based on the combined index score of the AMC 12 and AIME.

While there is no direct negative marking in Math Olympiad competitions, the AMC 10/12 uses a unique scoring system: blank answers earn 1.5 points, while incorrect answers earn 0 points. Understanding this scoring strategy is important for maximizing your score.
