  • A Level Topics: Building on the AS content, students study motion in a circle, gravitational fields, temperature, ideal gases, thermodynamics, oscillations, electric fields, capacitance, magnetic fields, alternating currents, quantum physics, nuclear physics, Medical Imaging, and Astronomy and Cosmology.
  • Skill Development: The program supports the application-focused nature of Cambridge Physics. This includes applying physical concepts and principles, carrying out quantitative calculations, handling and analyzing data, evaluating theories, and solving problems in novel situations. Students also develop vital scientific communication skills using appropriate terminology, symbols, and graphical representations.

Assessment Overview

Papers 1–3: AS Level

  • Paper 1 – Multiple Choice | 1 hour 15 minutes | 40 marks: 40 multiple-choice questions based on the AS Level syllabus content.
  • Paper 2 – AS Level Structured Questions | 1 hour 15 minutes | 60 marks: Structured questions based on the AS Level syllabus content.
  • Paper 3 – Advanced Practical Skills | 2 hours | 40 marks: Practical work assessing experimental skills and the ability to handle, analyze, and evaluate practical data in physics contexts.

Papers 4–5: A Level

  • Paper 4 – A Level Structured Questions | 2 hours | 100 marks: Structured questions based on the A Level syllabus content, requiring foundational knowledge of AS Level content.
  • Paper 5 – Planning, Analysis and Evaluation | 1 hour 15 minutes | 30 marks: Two compulsory questions assessing the analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of information and data in physics contexts.
