At AS Level, students study three set texts and prepare for an unseen text, developing their understanding of drama, poetry, prose, and unseen literature. Students develop close-reading skills, analyzing how writers’ choices create meaning and effects, exploring literary conventions and contexts, and expressing informed personal responses. At A Level, students build on their AS content and study four additional set texts, developing more advanced skills in literary analysis and interpretation across Shakespeare, drama, poetry, and prose. They also develop the ability to evaluate different opinions and ideas about literary texts.
