Tutoring is aligned with the Cambridge International AS & A Level Biology (9700) syllabus applicable to the student’s examination year. At AS Level, students study 11 topics covering cell biology, biological molecules, enzymes, transport, nucleic acids, protein synthesis, gas exchange, infectious diseases, and immunity. At A Level, students build on the AS content and study additional topics covering energy and respiration, photosynthesis, homeostasis, control and coordination, inheritance, selection and evolution, classification, biodiversity and conservation, and genetic technology.

The program supports the application-focused nature of Cambridge Biology, including applying biological concepts, analyzing and interpreting experimental data, evaluating findings, and suggesting improvements. Students also develop skills in handling, applying, and evaluating biological information, including working with numerical, graphical, and other forms of data.

Assessment Overview

Papers 1–3 – AS Level and A Level

  • Paper 1 – Multiple Choice | 1 hour 15 minutes — 40 multiple-choice questions based on the AS Level syllabus content.
  • Paper 2 – AS Level Structured Questions | 1 hour 15 minutes — Structured questions based on the AS Level syllabus content.
  • Paper 3 – Advanced Practical Skills | 2 hours — Questions assessing experimental and investigative skills based on the AS Level syllabus content.

Papers 4–5 – A Level

  • Paper 4 – A Level Structured Questions | 2 hours — Structured questions based on the A Level syllabus content, with knowledge of AS Level content also required.
  • Paper 5 – Planning, Analysis and Evaluation | 1 hour 15 minutes — Questions assessing planning, analysis, and evaluation of experimental procedures and data.
