Course Overview

The ACCUPLACER is a computer-based assessment used by colleges to place students in the appropriate course levels. It evaluates students’ current skill levels in English, Reading, and Math. The ACCUPLACER is “computer adaptive,” meaning that the difficulty of the questions adjusts based on the student’s responses. Colleges use the results from the ACCUPLACER to determine if a student is ready to take regular, credit-bearing courses or if they require additional academic support.
Growing Stars offers an online ACCUPLACER tutoring program tailored to help students confidently succeed in the computer-adaptive assessment. Our one-on-one expert tutors equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to achieve a high placement score. By working with our tutors, students can bypass expensive, non-credit remedial courses and enter college-level classes as soon as possible.

Tailored Support for Each Student

FAQs

1. Why is ACCUPLACER tutoring helpful?
The program follows a comprehensive and structured approach that covers every key learning objective outlined by the College Board. Hence, it prepares the learner to take the placement test in full confidence.

2. Why choose one-on-one tutoring?
This teaching method provides the student an opportunity to learn at their own pace, which is ideal for an untimed, adaptive test that evaluates individualized skill levels.

3. What happens if I don’t pass the Accuplacer test?
There is no such thing as failing the Accuplacer test, but a poor performance typically indicates that you will need to enroll in a non-credit remedial class prior to taking the courses necessary for completion of your degree. With Growing Stars’ online Accuplacer tutoring services, you will be better prepared and should be able to place directly into your credit-bearing courses for your degree, which will save you both time and money.

4. Is a calculator allowed during the test?
An on-screen calculator is made available to students via the testing software for the questions that require the calculator.

5. Do advanced learners benefit from this course?
Yes. Because the test is adaptive, advanced learners can prepare for the highest-difficulty level questions, allowing them to place directly into advanced college courses and skip introductory levels.
